Albert Hadley - considered the dean of American decorators - drove past this Italianate Victorian house on one of Southport's quaint lanes and declared - "I can't get it out of my head". He called it home for many years, sharing time between his Manhattan apartment and interior design office. The circa 1859 home has charm to spare and is on a third of an acre in the heart of Southport Village. Hadley changed very little sticking to his oft quoted mantra - "Never more, never less". He did however add the screened porch and the "green garden" both designed to be extensions of the rooms inside. First floor features living and dining rooms, kitchen and powder room. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, both with their own baths, and a large walk in closet. There is also a finished lower level. A true Southport gem that has been cherished by all lucky enough to have lived here.
