Our Take
12 Murvon Court in Westport is a four-bedroom, three-full-bath home built in 1925 on a 0.24-acre lot. It sits on a cul-de-sac off a private road and is described as an elevated, double-lot setting. The property offers several stated paths: use the existing home as-is, renovate and expand it, or pursue a new build. The remarks also identify potential Long Island Sound views with thoughtful new construction and note the Greens Farms Elementary School district.
Historic Profile
12 Murvon Court is a Colonial Revival house dating to about 1925 and a contributing building in the Compo–Owenoke Historic District. Murvon Court developed on Bradley family land sold to a developer by Jennie Punzelt in 1922. The house dates from the neighborhood’s growth as a beach community between 1910 and 1940, when Colonial Revival, bungalow, and Tudor Revival designs shaped the area around Compo Beach. The district entered the National Register of Historic Places on April 19, 1991.
Research note: The original owner, architect, and detailed alteration history were not established. The street’s 1922 land sale provides neighborhood context, not a verified deed history for this individual parcel. Separate State Register and local historic designations were not independently confirmed.
